  1. The promoters of the competitions are the BBC (the "Broadcaster") and 12 Yard Productions (the "Company") who shall together be known as the "Promoters". Any correspondence relating to the competition should be directed to Eggheads viewer competition, c/o 12 Yard Productions, 10 Livonia Street, London W1F 8AF
  2. The competition is open to all residents of the UK except employees of the Broadcaster, the Company and anyone connected with the competition.
  3. The telephone entry procedures are operated by Intext Media (UK) Limited on behalf of the Promoters. Neither the Promoters nor Intext Media (UK) Limited shall be liable to reimburse any expenses incurred by a viewer making an entry by phone.
  4. Entry to the competition is by calling the telephone number announced in the show. Phone calls will be charged at 25 pence per call provided you dial under a BT contract from a BT landline. Calls made from mobiles and other networks may cost more.
  5. If an entrant is not the person who pays the phone bill, they must secure the permission of the person who does pay the phone bill before calling.
  6. Entrants entering by phone have to leave their name, answer and contact phone number.
  7. After the competition closes a winner is selected at random from all those entrants with the right answer.
  8. The winner will be contacted by phone on the number they have provided. Winners' names can be obtained on application to 12 Yard Productions.
  9. Lines close at midnight on the day of the show's transmission unless otherwise stated in the show.
  10. The prize for each competition will be specified in each show when the competition is announced. The prize is as stated and there is no cash alternative.
  11. All entry instructions given on air will be deemed to form part of the rules of the competition.
  12. The Company's decision as to the winner of the competition is final. No correspondence relating to the competition will be entered into.
  13. The Company reserves the right to award the prize to another winner if it is unable to make contact with the winner on the telephone number provided by the winner within five days of winner selection date. The winner selection date will be on the following working day after lines close.
  14. There is no limit on the number of entries per entrant
  15. The Broadcaster, the Company, Intext Media (UK) Limited and their suppliers, their group companies and sub-contractors (together the "Providers") do not accept any responsibility whatsoever for (i) any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem in any telephone network or line, system, server, provider, internet access, the world wide web or otherwise which may result in any entry being lost or not properly recorded, or (ii) traffic congestion or other capacity issues which may result in a message not being able to get through or a message not being recorded. The competition provided "as is" and, to the fullest extent permitted by law, the Providers exclude all warranties and liabilities (whether express or implied) regarding the competition and the prize. In no event will the Providers' liability to you exceed the cost of your entry, save that nothing limits the Broadcaster's liability for death or personal injury as a result of its negligence.
  16. The Company may disqualify an entrant from winning the prize if it has reasonable grounds to suspect that an entrant may be in breach of these Rules and/or the participation in the competition may be fraudulent or otherwise unlawful (including but not limited to the use of technology which enables a contestant to evade charges when entering the competition). The Company may request that an entrant provides proof of his or her eligibility to enter the competition or proof of his or her compliance with these Rules before being entitled to a prize.
